Garbage get existential on “Even Though Our Love Is Doomed” — listen

Our second bite off the band's upcoming summer album, Strange Little Birds

Back in April, Garbage unlocked “Empty”, the first track off their first new album in four years, Strange Little Birds, due out June 10th via their own imprint STUNVOLUME. Now that we’re oh so achingly close to the release, they’ve gone ahead and cut another slice off the ’90s alternative pie with “Even Though Our Love Is Doomed”. Spoiler: It’s pretty depressing.

“Can you love me for what I’ve become,” Shirley Manson asks, and you start to think she’s the only one in this moody parable that believes in the Hallmark concept. Then she goes and confirms as much: “Even though our love is doomed/ Even though we’re all messed up/ You’re the only thing worth fighting for/ You’re the only thing worth dying for.” Sounds like classic Garbage.

Stream the track above — it’s a lyric video, so sing along — and see where you can find the band on tour this year below.
