Evil works at top speeds, apparently. Less than 24 hours after Blumhouse announced John Carpenter’s return to the Halloween franchise — and really, the entire project itself — there’s now word of a writer/director.
According to Bloody Disgusting, Hush director Mike Flanagan is in talks to write and direct the next Halloween sequel. Keep in mind, this is the same pub that confirmed the split from The Weinstein Company/Dimension Films.
If true, that’s a pretty excellent grab. Hush was one of our favorite films out of this year’s South by Southwest, and we happened to enjoy the hell out of the spellbinding horror of Oculus.
It also helps that the majority of Flanagan’s career has been produced by Blumhouse. But who knows? This pumpkin’s still being carved, leaving plenty of time for Blum to meditate on our five must-hire suggestions.
Wishful thinking, of course.
