Back in 2010, keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist Franz Nicolay waved bye bye to The Hold Steady. It was right before they dropped their fifth studio album, Heaven is Whenever. Although they had a sub, they eventually phased out the keys altogether, focusing on guitars, drums, and bass. But something has always felt missing.

Well, that proverbial hole will be filled once again because Nicolay has rejoined the band to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their exceptional third album, Boys and Girls in America. The Hold Steady announced the news on Facebook this morning, writing, “Stay Positive! It’s about to get incredible!”

Unfortunately, they don’t have any dates to share, as “some details with our co-conspirators changed and it required waiting two more weeks on the details.” But they promise some more information will surface by Wednesday, May 18th. On the plus side, they did confirm that Almost Killed Me and Separation Sunday will be reissued on vinyl via Frenchkiss Records this fall.
