Earlier this year, Justin Vernon announced that Bon Iver is no longer “winding down” and confirmed that he is working on new music for the beloved project. With the band having recently completed a four-night stint in Australia, Vernon tweeted today that they will debut an entire set “made of new music” when they take the stage at Eaux Claires Music Festival in August.
Bon Iver also debuted new music during their set at last year’s inaugural Eaux Claires Music Festival, but the project has not released a new album since 2011’s Bon Iver. Previously, Vernon stated: “There’s sort of this internal pressure, not from anybody but myself, to come out with new music for the festival. But I’m not gonna make myself do anything. I really have to take it step by step and have patience and know that the music — if it comes out, it’s gotta be really true, it’s gotta really live with the other records and extend from them and be reborn and all that.” Seems like Vernon found his muse.
Eaux Claires is curated by Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner. The festival takes place August 12th and 13th at Foster Farm in Vernon’s hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Tickets are still available.
