Pretty Years is the new album from Cymbals Eat Guitars, due to hit shelves September 16th through Sinderlyn. Produced by Grammy winner John Congleton (St. Vincent, Cloud Nothings), the LP is said to be a “more energetic record” than its predecessor, 2014’s LOSE.

“I personally looked to artists like Springsteen, ’70s Bowie, The Smiths, The Cure, Neil Young as inspiration,” bassist Matthew Whipple said in a press release. “Not really for sound as much as for that dichotomy of bands who were entertainers still making, at times, weird dark music and writing songs that seem totally over-the-top by today’s rock band standards.”

The new record was previewed last month with lead single “Wish”. Now, the Staten Island-based indie rockers are back with “4th of July, Philadelphia (Sandy)”. True to their word, it’s a spirited, stomping number from start to finish.
