Back in May, Radiohead kicked off one of the most anticipated tours of the season, its global outing behind new album A Moon Shaped Pool . While the band’s made a habit of switching up their setlists, it was perhaps that first week of shows which got fans in a tizzy.
In particular, the second night (May 21st) featured the tour debut of 10 songs. For a crowd of thousands at Amsterdam’s Heineken Music Hall, Thom Yorke and the rest of his UK crew performed “Lucky” from OK Computer, “All I Need” and “Nude” from In Rainbows, The Bends b-side “Talk Show Host”, and “Separator” from The King of Limbs. “The National Anthem”, off Kid A, popped up and included the outro of Amnesiac instrumental “Hunting Bears”.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgLqHBx1d98
The 24-song set also featured two separate encores, during which Radiohead dug into their discography for “How to Disappear Completely”, “Karma Police” and “Street Spirit (Fade Out)”. They also threw in a “Creep” teaser during their performance of “Give Up the Ghost”. (They would eventually perform the song in full two days later in Paris.)
Photos and short clips from that evening have since hit the web, but one diligent fan has managed to collect together footage of the entire concert. YouTube user Johnny Airbag meticulously scoured Facebook, Reddit, Instagram, and other social media platforms for any and all film and in order to create the two-hour visual.
There’s a reason why longtime fans have stuck by Radiohead’s side all these years — contrary to what Yorke believes — and a lot of it has to do with their incomparable, unpredictable live show. Thanks for sharing this, Johnny Airbag!
