Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh is scoring Thor: Ragnarok

    Devo co-founder Mark Mothersbaugh is best known for songs like “Whip It” and “Freedom of Choice”. Whether you realize it or not, you probably know a lot of his more contemporary work as well. Mothersbaugh has composed music for numerous TV shows and films, including Wes Anderson movies (RushmoreThe Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou) The LEGO Movie, the Jump Street series, and Pee-wee’s Big Holiday. For his next project, Mothersbaugh will travel to Asgard to score Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok.

    Entertainment Weekly reports that the Devo frontman has been tapped to compose music for the third solo entry in the Chris Hemsworth franchise. Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) is currently shooting the movie from a script by Stephen Folsom, Craig Kyle, and Christopher Yost.

    Mark Ruffalo, who reprises his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the film, described Thor: Ragnarok as “an intergalactic buddy road movie.” Other members of the ensemble cast includeTom Hiddleston (Loki), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Sir Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Cate Blanchett (Hela), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Karl Urban (Skurge), and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie). The Marvel movie is scheduled to hit theaters on November 3rd, 2017.
