Earlier this summer, Tycho broke his silence with the sweeping “Division”, his first piece of new material since 2014 album Awake. The ambient Bay Area producer returns this week with a second single called “Epoch”, and it’s every bit as impressive. For nearly six minutes, Tycho weaves a diverse fabric of synthesized sounds — some soar like flutes, while others glow like orbs and grind like thick static.
A SoundCloud note mentions that “Epoch” is “the keystone of the forthcoming album,” which is described as “a departure and an evolution for Tycho; honing the sonic aesthetic of [2011 album] Dive while drawing on the kinetic energy of Awake, it explores darker themes and new musical territory.”

More details on this new album are forthcoming; in the meantime, catch Tycho on his upcoming US fall tour.
