Ahead of his appearance at “Oldchella”, Roger Waters scheduled a trio of concerts in Mexico City. Last night, the Pink Floyd member played the first of these shows, marking his return to the live stage after 11 months.
As opposed to playing The Wall straight through (as he’s done for several years now), Waters delivered a 26-song career-spanning set that touched on Pink Floyd’s other masterpieces, including The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and Animals.
Of particular note was a performance of the Meddle track “Fearless”, marking only the second time ever the song was played live by a member of Pink Floyd and the first time since 1971. Additionally, Waters played another Meddle favorite, “One of These Days”, for the first time as a solo artist. Watch fan-shot footage of both performances below.
Waters is due back on stage at Mexico City’s Foro Sol on Thursday night. Then, on Saturday, he’ll hold a free concert at Plaza de la Constitución.
Meanwhile, Waters’ former Pink Floyd bandmate David Gilmour is currently touring Europe, playing many of the same songs. Last night, he brought out actor Benedict Cumberbatch to sing “Comfortably Numb”.
