Spiritualized are planning to return with a new album next year, their first since 2012. The English space-rock outfit announced news of the Sweet Heart Sweet Light follow-up in a series of tweets early Thursday. The as-yet-untitled full-length would serve as the band’s eighth overall.
In addition to the much anticipated LP, Spiritualized also revealed on Twitter that they’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of third album Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space with a pair of special concerts in which they’ll perform the record in its entirety. The shows are scheduled for November 7th and 8th at the Barbican in London.
“It’s such a massive and detailed piece of music to play and is still as demanding and relevant to me as it was on its release,” the band wrote. “In one 70 minute blast it just about covers everything I still find interesting and engaging in music…from free jazz, doo-wop, and soul to rock & roll, gospel, and the blues…”
