After slumming it in this summer’s miserable ensemble catastrophe Suicide Squad, Will Smith returns to his more dramatic wheelhouse this December, and in a film that doesn’t exactly reek of Oscar bait like last year’s ludicrous Concussion.
Instead, he’s keeping things fairly grounded, playing a troubled New York ad exec who stumbles into a downward spiral of depression, tragedy, romance, and hope. From the looks of the new trailer above, it’s going to be a gift come Christmas.
Especially since we’re not only getting just Smith, but a warm holiday hug by co-stars Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, Michael Peña, and Naomie Harris. David Frankel directs from a script by Allan Loeb.
It’s coming out December 16th, aka the same day as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
