Action-packed trailer debuts at New York Comic Con

When Chad Stahelski and David Leitch’s shoot-’em-up thriller John Wick hit theaters back in 2014, nobody expected it to be half as badass as it was. Starring Keanu Reeves as a retired hitman who goes berzerk on some thugs after they kill his puppy, John Wick breathed fresh life into the action genre and marked Reeves’ most exciting film since The Matrix. By modern Hollywood’s logic, all of that success demands a sequel that ups the ante even further, and it looks like that’s exactly what we’re getting with John Wick: Chapter Two.

In the trailer, which debuted at the film’s New York Comic Con event, Wick travels to Rome to take on a guild of international assassins. And he’s not alone. The deceased pup from the original film has been replaced by a pitbull that looks like a big, mean meatball on four legs, and if his chomping skills are anything like Wick’s fighting skills, the bad guys are in trouble. Woof.

Aside from Reeves and his loyal companion, John Wick: Chapter Two stars returning actors John Leguizamo, Lance Reddick, and Ian McShane along with newcomers Common, Ruby Rose, Peter Stormare, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Laurence Fishburne (yep, Morpheus and Neo back at it again).
