There have been several cringeworthy moments during this presidential election, though not all at the hands of Donald Trump. Last month, Mary J. Blige sat down with Hillary Clinton for an interview presented by Apple Music. At one point, while discussing the recent string of police shootings against unarmed black men, Blige began singing Bruce Springsteen’s “American Skin (41 Shots)” a capella. It was a powerful moment for sure, but the performance will forever be remembered for Blige awkwardly holding Clinton’s hand the entire time.

Now, though, Blige has shared a studio version of the “41 Shots” to listen to sans any awkward hand holding. Even better, it features a verse from the equally magnificent Kendrick Lamar. Listen below.

“41 Shots” was written by Springsteen in the wake of the 199 New York police shooting death of Guinean immigrant Amadou Diallo.
