Pharrell unveils two new songs “Runnin'” and “Surrender” from Hidden Figures soundtrack — listen

    Last month, Pharrell Williams guested on the Kid Cudi single “Surfin'”. Now the POTUS-approved musician is lending his talents to Hollywood, contributing a pair of new songs to the soundtrack for Hidden Figures, an upcoming biographical drama about the Apollo 11 mission starring Janelle Monáe, Octavia Spencer (The Help), and Taraji P. Henson (Empire).

    The first track is titled “Runnin'”, and it’s a snappy little tune that sounds like a serious, toned down version of “Happy”. “Surrender”, meanwhile, is all exuberant energy and Motown soul — thanks in part to collaborator and Grammy-winning singer Lalah Hathaway — and aptly reflects the film’s late ’60s setting.
