This week, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will reveal the nominees for its class of 2017. The announcement is set for Tuesday, October 18th, at 8:00 a.m. local time. The top five vote-getters, as determined by a group of artists, historians, and music industry members, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in April 2017.
This year’s newly eligible acts include Pearl Jam, Tupac Shakur, PJ Harvey, Alanis Morissette, Temple of the Dog, Tori Amos, Paul Weller, The Cranberries, Aphex Twin, and The Prodigy.
Other acts up for consideration include The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Kraftwerk, Blur, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Hole, Tom Petty (solo), Bon Jovi, Janet Jackson, Chaka Khan, Mariah Carey, Chic, The Cars, Sting, Kylie Minogue, Tracy Chapman, Electric Light Orchestra, Alice in Chains, Phish, The Meters, Warren Zevon, The Zombies, Los Lobos, Jethro Tull, The Moody Blues, De La Soul, and Sinead O’Connor.
Last year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class included N.W.A., Deep Purple, Steve Miller, Cheap Trick, and Chicago.
