Saba paints a bleak picture over this warm track

Chicago’s renaissance shows no signs of slowing down, and that’s largely due to the Second City’s music community. Even as a guy like Chance the Rapper is putting out world-changing music and seeing his star rise, he’s helping other young bloods get their name out there. Saba has been collaborating with Lil Chano since Acid Rain, and has recently been making a push in his own right. If you haven’t heard of Saba yet, then it’s time to get acquainted.

As far as primers go, you could do a lot worse than the Chi-Town rapper’s latest track, “Church/Liquor Store”. Along with Noname, Saba rattles off the landmarks of his neighborhood at clip that sounds like he’s driving through and pointing them out. Think of him as your own personal audio tour guide. However, he’s not masking over the darker corners of his city, as there’s a bit of bleakness over the warm track. Check it out below.

If “Church/Liquor Store” has you eager to know more about the up-and-coming rapper, check out the Red Bull documentary on the Pivot Gang founder’s steady rise. Pre-orders for Saba’s upcoming solo release, Bucket List Project, are currently on-going ahead of its October 27th release; grab yours here.
