There’s no way any self-respecting Madonna fan gets over missing this: On Monday night, the Material Girl brought a small entourage over to this writer’s favorite section of New York City — ahem, Washington Square Park — to perform an intimate five-song set in support of presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
“This is a concert about unifying us, and it’s about keeping America great, not making America great,” she exclaimed. “This is a concert about peace, and we are trying to elect – we are going to elect – a president that is going to keep America the great country that it is and has the potential to be.”
The hundreds of revelers helped her sing a rousing cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine”, in addition to her own hits such as “Express Yourself”, “Don’t Tell Me”, “Like a Prayer”, and “Rebel Heart”. Okay, so that last song’s no “Ray of Light”, but c’mon, this was a once in a lifetime experience — you know, sort of like tonight.
