Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, has had a hell of a run this year. From his surprisingly excellent throwback record, “Awaken, My Love!”, to his hit FX series, Atlanta, the creator has delivered a string of critically exclaimed projects. But for all the praise he’s received, it wasn’t enough for Atlanta to take home the statue for Best Comedy Series at last night’s  Critic’s Choice Awards.

Instead, that honor went to HBO’s Silicon Valley, which just so happens to star this year’s host, T.J. Miller (who did not address his recent arrest for assault, btw). Despite losing, Atlanta star Keith Stanfield felt the urge to deliver an acceptance speech, pulling a neo-Kanye move by jumping to the mic before executive producer Tom Lassally could reach it.

“I want to thank everybody for honoring us in this way,” Stanfield said dryly while adorned in a sailor’s cap. “We worked very hard on Silicon Valley and here we are.”

He left the stage without incident, and Lassally stepped forward to actually accept the award. “No idea who that was,” he said with a smile. Just wait till Atlanta season two — you’ll learn his name yet, Lassally.
