In a video promoting his newest pet smart house project, Jarvis, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg revealed that he’d programmed the AI to never play Nickelback. If the Zuck asks for “some good Nickelback songs,” the AI responds, “I’m sorry, Mark, I’m afraid I can’t do that. There are no good Nickelback songs.”
Some may have marveled over how smart Zuckerberg’s house really is, but Avril Lavigne took offense at the programming. The Canadian singer stood up for her estranged-but-still-wedded husband Chad Kroeger’s band in a takedown labeling Zuckerberg a bully.
“… You’re allowed your musical opinion however, your jab at Nickelback is in poor taste,” Lavigne wrote in a note she tweeted out. “When you have a voice like yours, you may want to consider being more responsible with promoting bullying, especially given what’s going on in the world today.” She ended her note with a series of hashtags: #SayNoToBully, #TheJokeIsOld, and #NickelbackHasSoldOver50MillionAlbums.
While even we have to agree Nickelbashing is getting a bit passé, hearing Morgan Freeman’s voice say, “There are no good Nickelback songs” is still worth a solid chuckle. So listen to it again by watching Zuckerberg’s Jarvis video below.
