Dirty Projectors have been slowly inching toward a new studio album since last September’s release of “Keep Your Name”, and today the group shared another single from their possibly forthcoming but as-yet-unannounced follow-up to 2012’s Swing Lo Magellan. The new single is called “Little Bubble” and comes with an accompanying video that, according to a press release, “explores the metaphor of Earth itself as a fragile bubble of life in a cold, dead universe.” The video was directed by Dirty Projectors frontman David Longstreth and longtime collaborator Adam Newport-Berra.
The song itself finds Longstreth crafting yet another slippery, beautiful melody and pairing it with a lyrical theme about “the bubbles that we create and inhabit in our most intimate relationships.” Longstreth, who recently worked as a producer on Solange’s A Seat at the Table, fills the track with a lush ensemble of electric piano, strings, brass, and a multi-faceted rhythm section.
