Rising outfit may have incidentally given us a solid protest anthem

The UK doesn’t have to deal with President Trump’s regime firsthand, but one of its newest indie rock bands may have very well inadvertently penned today’s ideal “fuck off” anthem.

Four-piece New Carnival caught listeners’ ears last year (including BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac) with their glimmering debut single “Where Do You Wanna Go”. Their latest offering “Run For Cover”, however, chomps down with a more bluesy bite — its howl and aggression a result of pent up fury finally reaching its breaking point.

“It’s very cathartic, taking you through the stages of dealing with suppressed anger,” New Carnival member Max tells Consequence of Sound. “It feels like setting something on fire, letting it flame up and burn out.” There’s a line in the track’s first verse that goes, “I was already over you speaking your mind,” and I can’t help but think of The Donald and this brilliant display of fiery protest.
