2017 Grammys: David Bowie, Adele, Chance the Rapper among big winners

Solange, Cage the Elephant, and Flume also among this year's winners

    The 2017 Grammy Awards were handed out during a ceremony at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

    David Bowie was among the big winners, earning five Grammy Awards. “Blackstar”, the title track to his final opus, won Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance. The album itself won Best Alternative Album, beating the likes of Radiohead, Bon Iver, PJ Harvey, and Iggy Pop. Remarkably, these marked Bowie’s first-ever Grammys in categories specifically dedicated to music.

    Adele, too, won five Grammys. 25 captured both Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, while “Hello” was awarded Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Solo Pop Performance.

    Chance the Rapper also had a big night. The Chicago MC won Best New Artist, Best Rap Album for Coloring Book, and Best Rap Performance for “No Problem”.

    Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s little sister, Solange, won Best R&B Performance for “Cranes in the Sky”.

    Drake’s “Hotline Bling” nabbed Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Performance.

    Cage the Elephant picked up their first Grammy Award, winning Best Rock Album for Tell Me I’m Pretty.

    Flume’s Skin won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album, beating out releases from Jean-Michel Jarre, Underworld, and Tycho.

    Legendary composer John Williams’ original score for Star Wars: The Force Awakens won Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media, besting the likes of Ennio Morricone (Hateful Eight) and SURVIVE’s Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein (Stranger Things).

    “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”, Justin Timberlake’s original composition for the animated film Trolls, won the Grammy for Best Song Written For Visual Media.
