2017 Emmy nominations revealed: Stranger Things, Donald Glover, Aziz Ansari among highlights

    Celebrating the best in television, the 2017 Emmy Awards take place on Sunday, September 17th at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS. Stephen Colbert will host the event.

    Today, the nominations were announced. Of note: Stranger Things, Westworld, Better Call Saul, and The Handmaid’s Tale are all up for Best Drama Series; Veep, Atlanta, Master of None, Silicon Valley, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt are candidates for Best Comedy Series.

    Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Keri Russell (The Americans), Donald Glover (Atlanta), Aziz Ansari (Master of None), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Elle Kemper (Kimmy Schmidt) Allison Janney (Mom), Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black) Riz Ahmed (The Night Of), John Turturro (The Night Of), and Ewan McGregor (Fargo) all scored individual nominations.

    On the music front, Jack White’s PBS miniseries American Epic earned a nod for Outstanding Music Direction; SNL’s Run D.M.C. parody featuring Chance the Rapper is nominated for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics; and S U R V I V E’s Stranger Things theme is a finalist for Outstanding Original Main Title Music.
