With all tours and events brought to a halt because of the coronavirus pandemic, artists have been using livestreaming to connect with their fans. Today’s livestream schedule includes a number of 4/20 virtual festivals: Willie Nelson’s “Come and Toke It” (with Kacey Musgraves, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tommy Chong, Angel Olsen, Margo Price, and Nathaniel Rateliff); WeedMaps’ “Higher Together Sessions from Home” (with Wiz Khalifa, Billy Ray Cyrus, Erykah Badu, Stephen Marley); and the Highstream 420 Festival (with Melissa Etheridge, The Disco Biscuits, The Pharcyde). Plus, Snoop Dogg celebrates the 20th anniversary of Dr. Dre’s The Chronic with a special DJ set.

Other noteworthy streamers include Alice in Chains, Cypress Hill, Dirty Projectors, Cold War Kids, Deerhoof, The Lone Bellow’s Zach Williams, and Metronomy, plus The National and Metallica will stream classic concert films.

Aloe Blacc’s Avicii 24-Hour Tribute

April 20th marks the second anniversary of the death of Avicii. Aloe Blacc, who worked with the DJ on “Wake Me Up” and “SOS” will celebrate his memory with a 24-hour tribute, sharing dedications and conversations with Avicii’s collaborators and friends. He’ll even choose select fans to be his duet partner; fans can post cover versions of “Wake Me Up” and “SOS” and tag #SingWithAloe to be considered.

Part of the celebration will take place as Aloe Blacc gives the debut performance for Billboard’s “Live At-Home Concert” series. At 1:00 p.m. EDT, he’ll sing his new song, “I Do”, as well as his collaborations with Avicii.


Bones UK

Nightmares on Wax 4/20 Special

With the accompanying tour grounded, NOW has launched “The Other Ship”, a weekly Instagram Live broadcast live from his famous Ibiza Studio. With special performances, Q&As, and more, today’s show should be extra special given the holiday.


La Blogothèque’s “Stay Away Shows

Presented by the National Cannabis Festival and The Emerald Cup, the festival will feature performances from Melissa Etheridge, The Disco Biscuits, Major Lazer’s Ape Drums, The Pharcyde, De La Soul’s DJ Maseo, Backyard Band, Yaadcore, Boogie T.Rio, and Chali 2Na. “Pickathon: A Concert A Day”

Pickathon Music Festival has announced “A Concert A Day”, an initiative to help musicians and artist communities through the Recording Academy’s MUSICARES organization. During this time of hardship, with so many artists unable to tour and so many people stuck at home, Pickathon is opening the vaults to premiere one full concert a day for 60 days, streaming for free on Facebook, Amazon Music’s Twitch channel, and on YouTube.

Deerhoof’s Future Teenage Cave Artist Listening Party

The National announced an ongoing series, “An Exciting Communal Event”, where they will surprise fans every Monday at 5:00p EDT with even more content from their vaults, including classic live sets, and some unseen and little-seen footage for fans to enjoy during this time at home. The series aims to drive donations to The National road crew financial relief cause – there will be avenues to donate highlighted on YouTube during the events.


“The Paste Happiest Hour”: Andy Frasco and The Lone Bellow’s Zach Williams

Brendan Benson’s “Boy in a Bubble”

4/20 Smoke Out with Cypress Hill

With their “Wanna Get High” tour canceled, Cypress Hill members B Real, Eric “Bobo” Correa, Sen Dog, and Mix Master Mike will connect from all around the world (Amsterdam, Los Angeles, San Antonio and Las Vegas) to celebrate 4/20 on LiveXLive. In addition to a set of hits and their famous Weed Medley, they’ll also have a live “puff and pass” hang session with fans. The performance will benefit Crew Nation, a charitable organization that’s helping touring and venue crews.


Snoop Dogg DJ Set: Dr. Dre’s The Chronic

In honor of 4/20, Snoop Dogg a.k.a. DJ Snoopadelic will host a “smoke-in” DJ set celebrating Dr. Dre’s iconic The Chronic.


Diplo’s “Corona World Tour”

For the duration of social distancing/quarantine practices in the US, Diplo will livestream DJ sets from his house five nights per week. For a special 4/20 series, Flosstradamus is reviving his signature Red Rocks event HDY FEST 4/20 beginning at 7:20 p.m. EDT (4:20 p.m. PDT). Then at midnight EDT, Diplo will spin a special Good Gas x Mad Decent set.

The usual streams will be themed in line with Diplo’s interests: “A Very Lazer Sunday”, paying homage to his group, Major Lazer’s, dancehall and reggae roots airing Sundays at 7:00 p.m. EST; a mixed-bag “Ronatronix” set Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m. EST (the name a throwback to the iconic Hollertronix parties that launched his career); country-flecked variety show “The Thomas Wesley Show Thursdays” at 10:00 p.m. EST; ambient “Corona Sabbath Fridays” at 10:00 p.m. EST; and a good, old fashioned “Coronight Fever” rave Saturday nights at 11:00 p.m. EST.

Major publishers and record labels will allow the archived streams to live on YouTube and to be monetized by respective rights holders, with royalties being paid to all those whose music is played in the shows.


Metallica’s “#MetallicaMondays”

#MetallicaMondays is Metallica’s new weekly concert series. The series sees the band posting archived sets of live performances from over the years. The first broadcast premiered on March 23rd and featured their June 2019 performance at Ireland’s Slane Castle. The latest one captures the band’s May 31st, 2015 show at Munich, Germany’s Olympiapark München.


Umphrey’s McGee’s “Umphrey’s Mondays”
