Chevelle have announced their ninth album, NIRATIAS, set to arrive on March 5th. In advance of its release, they’ve unveiled a video for the first single, “Self destructor.”

NIRATIAS marks the band’s first album as a duo, featuring frontman Pete Loeffler and drummer Sam Loeffler, following the departure of bassist Dean Bernardini in 2019. It’s also Chevelle’s first LP in nearly five years, having released their last effort, The North Corridor, in July 2016. Like their three most recent albums, NARIATAS is being produced by Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age).

The progressive and heavy “Self destructor” finds Pete singing in a high register, with a strong sense of urgency in his voice. The song is accompanied by a sci-fi video that depicts Pete and Sam as G-Men as they trace the steps of a ghostly astronaut.

The album’s eye-catching cover artwork was created by famed artist Boris Vallejo, who was responsible for a number of science-fiction novel covers in the ’70s and ’80s, as well as the poster for National Lampoon’s Vacation. A tracklist and more details will be revealed on January 22nd.

Check out the video for Chevelle’s “Self destructor” below, followed by the aforementioned NIRATIAS cover artwork. Vinyl pre-orders for the LP are available here, while the album can be pre-saved on digital streaming platforms here.
