Daryl Hall & John Oates: From Philly to Chile (Paramount+)

Daryl Hall and John Oates have been playing music together since 1970, but the duo’s career didn’t take them to South America until 2019. Their long-awaited journey to the region is the subject of Daryl Hall & John Oates: From Philly to Chile, a new documentary now streaming on Paramount+.

From Philly to Chile documents one week in Hall & Oates’ lives in 2019, when they performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Santiago, Chile; and Sao Paolo, Brazil for the first time. The band’s manager Jonathan Wolfson produced the film, with Felipe Sanguinetti serving as the director and Kurt Kuenne as the editor.

“It was a blast playing for all the amazing fans in South America who have been waiting so long for us to finally get there,” Oates tells Consequence, adding that he can’t even describe “how much I appreciate their energy.” Hall chimes in by saying their trip to the region was “fascinating in every way.”

Meanwhile, Wolfson describes the film as giving viewers “a realistic window into a week of life of a band on the road. It displays the in-betweens of what life is really like on the road.”

Watch the trailer for Hall & Oates’ new documentary below. The duo will next perform at the BeachLife Ranch Country & Americana Festival in Redondo Beach, California this September. Back in March, Hall joined Kyle Meredith to discuss his solo archival album BeforeAfter on the Kyle Meredith With… podcast.
