Nicolas Cage has been tapped to star in a new comedy for A24 titled Dream Scenario.
Details about the project are being kept under wraps, but one interesting tidbit is the film will be produced by Hereditary and Midsommar director Ari Aster with Lars Knudsen under their Square Peg banner. Kristoffer Borgli penned the script for Dream Scenario and will be directing.
Cage is coming off the meta action comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, in which he plays a fictionalized version of himself alongside Pedro Pascal and Tiffany Haddish. Last summer, he earned universal acclaim for his performance in the existential Pig.
Next up, Cage will play a buffalo hunter in the western thriller Butcher’s Crossing, which is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. He will also continue to show off his comedy chops as the vampire Dracula in the Universal monster movie Renfield opposite Nicholas Hoult and Awkwafina. Sometime after that, Cage will return as Benjamin Franklin Gates in National Treasure 3.
Dream Scenario marks the fourth collaboration between A24 and Square Peg, including the upcoming horror flick Disappointment Blvd. starring Joaquin Phoenix, Nathan Lane, Patti LuPone, Amy Ryan, and Parker Posey.
