It’s a fresh, new perspective on why these albums are filed under “M” for masterpiece.
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, this week’s episode looks back at Kate Bush’s 1985 album, Hounds of Love. After dismal sales of her previous LP, 1982’s The Dreaming, Bush decided a fresh start was needed. She built a 48-track studio in a barn behind her family’s home, began recording demos, and spent the next year mixing and overdubbing. The end result would yield Bush a place at the top of the UK charts, the album going double platinum, and regularly voted as one of the best albums of all time.
