Once again, we’ve thrown on our favorite velvet robe, turned up the fire, and are here to regale you with stories of the greatest and most classic albums of all time. It’s a fresh, new perspective on why these albums are filed under “M” for masterpiece.
In the early 70s, Patti Smith was already known as a singer-songwriter, poet, and performance artist. But it wouldn’t be until 1975, when she released her classic album Horses, that she would become known as the godmother of punk rock in the New York scene. A combination of songs and spoken word, Smith’s album changed the ways people listened to music. It not only influenced bands out of New York like the Ramones but also bands including The Smiths and R.E.M.
