Once again, we’ve thrown on our favorite velvet robe, turned up the fire, and are here to regale you with stories of the greatest and most classic albums of all time. It’s a fresh, new perspective on why these albums are filed under “M” for masterpiece.
Filling in for Nick Freed this week is original Masterpiece host, CoS film writer Justin Gerber. On today’s episode, we take you back to 1984 for the release of The Replacements’ third studio album, Let It Be. At the time, frontman Paul Westerberg was dead set at moving away from playing loud and fast and more interested in writing songs that were “a little more sincere.” The end result would become their most iconic album and kick off a trilogy of releases that would be deemed the band’s best.
